What to bring
- Photo ID and your dental insurance card, if you have one.
- A list of the medications you currently take.
- Your completed new-patient forms, if you filled them in beforehand.
- Antibiotics taken as directed, if your physician has told you to premedicate.
- Ten to fifteen minutes of margin if the forms are not done — that is how long check-in takes.
What happens in the room
A full examination, plus any diagnostic images needed for what brought you in. Findings are reviewed with you on the screen, in plain terms, before options are discussed.
Nothing is booked until you know what is being proposed, why, and what it costs. If the answer is that nothing needs doing today, that is the answer.

Insurance and payment
Dental plans vary widely and your benefits are set by your individual policy. Claims are submitted on your behalf as a courtesy, along with an estimate of your expected out-of-pocket cost based on what your carrier tells us.
Those estimates are not guarantees — the carrier makes the final coverage decision. If their payment differs, the account is adjusted and the balance or credit is communicated to you.
Questions about benefits, payment arrangements or financing are worth asking before treatment starts rather than after.

What should I bring to a first dental appointment?#
A first appointment at All Island Dentistry needs photo ID, your dental insurance card, a list of the medications you currently take, and any new-patient forms already completed. If your physician has told you to take antibiotics before dental treatment, take the antibiotics as directed beforehand.
How early should I arrive for a first appointment?#
Arrive ten to fifteen minutes early for a first appointment if the new-patient forms are not already done — ten to fifteen minutes is how long check-in takes. Forms completed before you arrive mean the appointment is spent on the exam instead.

Are dental implants placed in this office or referred out?#
Implant surgery is done in the Lake Grove office by Dr. Daniel Greenberg rather than referred out. A General Practice Residency at North Shore University Hospital followed by a Fellowship in Implant Dentistry and Advanced Prosthodontics is why implant placement, dentures and full-mouth work stay in the building.
Why is a 3D CBCT scan taken before a dental implant?#
A CBCT scan images bone, nerve position and airway in three dimensions, so implant position is decided on the scan before surgery instead of judged by eye during surgery. The plan taken from the CBCT scan is then carried into the mouth by a surgical guide.
How many hours a day do Invisalign aligners need to be worn?#
Invisalign aligners need 20 to 22 hours of wear a day, and come out to eat, brush and floss. Each set of aligners is worn about one to two weeks, and wear time is the one variable that decides whether the treatment plan holds.
